Mothers’ Day Gestures

The spring season is approaching rather quickly, and right along with it, Mothers’ Day is coming. This is of course an important event for people all over the world who need to give some thought to how to show their love and appreciation for their mothers. Some people view this as a manufactured holiday built up for commercial purposes – however, whether this is the case or not, it has become a very nice tradition for mothers, who certainly deserve to be specially recognized for all they do for us. So, bearing this in mind, here are a few nice ideas for gifts and things to do for your mother this Mothers’ Day:

1. One of the most established and appropriate gestures to make on Mothers’ Day is to give your mother a lovely gift of flowers. The great thing about this gift is that you can do it in person, but if you don’t live near your mother you can also simply order the flowers to be delivered from Marks & Spencer. Just about every mother loves flowers, and this will certainly be appreciated and enjoyed.

2. Another good idea that mothers will appreciate, and that a lot of people don’t think about, is going out for a photography session with your mother. Mothers love having photographs of their families, and particularly as their children begin to grow up, there are often fewer and fewer of these photographs. So, if you can get some of your family together, and have some professional photos taken of you with your mother, she is likely to be very pleased.

3. Take your mother out for a family meal. This is also fairly traditional, but it’s important to remember that for a lot of mothers, the best gift is to be able to spend some time with their children. So, whether it’s a new lunch location or her favourite dinner restaurant, it will certainly be nice to take her out for a memorable meal.

The above listed gestures will improve just about any Mothers’ Day celebration. If you want to focus more on gifts, you can of course also get your mother something more tangible: perhaps some new jewellery, or a book or two you know she’d like to read, etc. However, as mentioned above, mothers often appreciate simply being able to spend time with their children, so if at all possible you should make sure your gift is accompanied by something like the ideas listed. Your mother will have a great Mothers’ Day because of it!

Winter Wedding at St Peter’s Church, March

Wedding at St Peter's Church March
Wedding at St Peter’s Church March

Congratulations to Amy and Dean who were married at St Peter’s Church, March on Saturday 4th February 2012 (a couple of hours before the snow descended!) There was a little delay at the start when Amy arrived without her flowers but this was soon sorted out and they were then ”hitched without further hitch”.

After the ceremony it was too cold to stay outdoors for the formal photographs so we all retreated back into the Church were it was lovely and warm. The reception was a fish and chip supper at the GER club where there were a few surprises in store – not least one involving the gift of a car!!

We love photographing weddings and getting involved in them; please get in touch if you are getting married and looking for a wedding photographer.

Valentine’s Day Photography Gift

Valentine's Day Photography Gift
Valentine’s Day Photography Gift

If you are looking for a gift to give your loved one this Valentine’s Day then please consider buying a portrait gift box. It costs £85.00 plus £1.99 P&P and can be bought securely on line through PayPal or by telephone (01354 278242). If you are able to collect the gift from the studio we will refund the P&P by the way.

The gift includes a two hour studio portrait sitting and an A4 framed artwork of the favourite image. The photography experience will be great fun (even if people don’t like having their photograph taken) and we always make clients feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera.

During the photoshoot there is time to view images straight away and even see creative changes made to them (eg black and white versions, graphic designs etc). If clients feel spoilt for choice we are always happy to make their selection of images available on line in a private web gallery so that there is no pressure to make decisions.

Our March Town studio is easily found near Tesco petrol station roundabout (Thorby Avenue is the first left turn after going straight over it) so Fenlanders save on travel costs by shopping locally.

The gift is valid for twelve months and the photoshoot can be for an individual or a family (including household pets, by prior agreement). Valentine’s Day is not far away so if you would like to take advantage of this offer it is advisable to do so now.

See Portrait Photography Gift Boxed Voucher please.

We’re getting married!

Amy and Dean's engagement photograph
Congratulations to Amy and Dean

January has been a busy month for wedding photography bookings and we are looking forward to getting involved in them all. Amy and Dean (opposite) quickly took advantage of their complimentary engagement sitting at the studio this week and they should remember what they learned because the wedding is only two weeks away!

Most couples book their wedding photographer several months ahead – if not even years ahead in some cases. However, last minute bookings are sometimes possible, especially in the winter months when it is quieter on the wedding scene. It can be quite exciting organising things at short notice but we do recommend that couples generally try to make arrangements a little earlier so as to avoid any disappointment.

The image that you see here will be used on a “signing board” that guests can write on at the couple’s reception.

We’re all hoping that the weather will be good enough for some outdoor photographs – plan B is back in the Church to warm up. With best wishes to Amy and Dean for the day itself and their married life together.

If you are getting married and would like to discuss your wedding photography with us please call to make an appointment. There is also a pdf booklet that you may find helpful … click here to see the wedding guide

A festive family get-together

Family portraits at The Oliver Cromwell

Happy Christmas - Taa daaa ..

Thank you to this lovely family who asked us to photograph their pre-Christmas get-together and made us feel so very welcome too. After a quiz worthy of Mastermind we all had fun getting a selection of family groups photographed at The Oliver Cromwell Hotel in March.

Arrangements were made to preview the results straight away and also provide a private web gallery for viewing the images at leisure later on.

If you are organising a family event and would like this photographed please get in touch with Charles David Photography Ltd.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
