Just the Other Half Please

Christopher Ley’s image “Just the Other Half Please” won March Camera Club’s annual projected images competition this year – beating over 100 other images and winning the Owen Driver Shield.

Judge Barbie Lindsay EFIAP, MPAGB, FBPE liked the simplicity and creativity of the image which was actually fairly easy to produce and quite rewarding afterwards (you don’t think I threw the contents away afterwards do you?)

These have been supplied to Fenland District Council who commissioned us to record the day’s action and also to the Cambs Times who have a small gallery on line too.

The weather was not as perfect as in years gone by but, despite very threatening skies at times, it was generally warm and dry with just the odd drizzle.

If past years are anything to go by it promises to be a great day for all ages and we look forward to photographing as much of the fun as we can. Come back to this web site afterwards if you would like to see a large selection of the images taken.

The image was reproduced on Epson Heavyweight Matte paper using Epson original inks on an R2400 printer – this resulted in a really authentic look and the print should last a lifetime! Click on the image to see a larger version of the result – this will open as a pdf in a new tab / window.

Even Emily and Jon (“the two people who most dislike having their photograph taken”) found images that they liked – job done! We wish them all the very best on their wedding day in May this year.

This session covered the post-processing of images (importing into software such as Picassa and Photoshop Elements, organising collections of images, cropping, and basic essential treatments of the images).

We look forward to seeing the group again later in the year and hope that they are enjoying their new skills.

Pickle and Lamb Chop at our Studio

“Never work with Children and Animals”? W.C Fields is credited with this well known aphorism but it can be great fun and very rewarding to do just that. Indeed a lot of our photographic work involves children or pets (sometimes both together).

It just takes a bit of patience, some anticipation, and a little bribery with treats. Pickle and Lamb Chop pictured here were no trouble and sometimes just a little whistle caught their attention very nicely.

We were quite spoilt for choice after several short sittings during their visit to our Studio. There were individual portrait images, duets, and some with Beth who came with them.
