Fenland had its own “Olympic torch run” thanks to March man Reg Kemp. Ian Groome and Robyn Joly, March people who carried the official Olympic torches, participated in the event today, Sunday 15th July 2012 at West End Park, March, Cambridgeshire.
World powerlifting champion Louise Fox from March also joined this alternative Olympic torch event as did Colin Bedford, the chairman of March Veteran and Vintage Cycle Club, who came along and rode a bike that was used by a competitor in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
Peter Jackman, a former chairman of March Athletic Club, started the walkers/joggers off at 1:00pm. Mr. Jackman, his wife Gena and club members Mick Durrant and Sue Beedham will be marshalling as part of the London 2012 Olympics
